London Lager
ABV 4.5%
Meantime Brew Master, Alastair Hook, has spent 20 years planning the quintessential English lager. His reasoning is simple. The great European lager brewers use very soft water and neutral yeasts to ensure that only the flavours of their locally grown malt and hops come to the fore. East Anglia is home to the world’s finest malting barley and Kent is home to some of the world’s best hops. Midway between the two, London is ideally placed to bring them together in a straightforward, clean, long-matured, unpasteurised lager, where all you can taste is malt and hop.
London Pale Ale
ABV 4.3%
One hundred and fifty years ago the new bitter beer style, Pale Ale, was so popular that brewers had to import Californian hops to meet demand. Meantime London Pale Ale continues that tradition by combining lots of American Cascade and Centennial hops to give it a complex citrus aroma and buckets full of local Kentish Goldings to provide the bitterness that makes the style so refreshing. Together they conspire to assail the nose with a complex, heady mix of spearmint, grass and ‘hop sack’ aromas, fruity citrus flavours and a bitter finish that makes pale ale drinking a truly rewarding experience.
India Pale Ale
ABV 7.4%
India Pale Ale is the beer that sustained the British Raj – it did not just survive the passage to India, it matured to perfection on the long voyage. Original IPA was heavily hopped – up to twice as much as domestic beers - and so Meantime use plenty of Kent Fuggles and Goldings to help re-create the flavours of the world’s first great pale beer style.
London Porter
ABV 6.5%
Porter was the great London beer style of the 18th and 19th centuries, when the city was revered as both the brewing capital and trading hub of the world. Named after the legions of porters in her docks, streets and markets who drank this powerful beer to slake their thirst, Meantime London Porter is a classic interpretation of this complex dark beer style.
Yakima Red
ABV 4.1%
Meantime Yakima Red is brewed with British and German malts to give a deep ruby colour and medium to full body. The addition of five varieties of US hop from the Yakima Valley in Washington State imparts spectacular fruit and citrus flavours with a restrained bitterness. Yakima Red is 4.1% ABV and delivers all the flavour and character you come to expect from Meantime’s variety of craft beer styles.
Wheat Beer
ABV 5.0%
Whilst studying brewing in Munich, Meantime Brew Master Alastair Hook was fascinated by the complexity of the local wheat beers and became determined to create his own. The use of 60% wheat and authentic Bavarian yeast gives Meantime Wheat fruity, spicy aromas and flavours, with a soft, mousse-like mouthfeel.
Chocolate Porter
ABV 6.5%
The natural mocca flavours of the four different roasted malts used to brew this rich, dark beer are complemented by the addition of real chocolate during maturation. Warm, complex and smooth, it has a long, clean finish.
